Presentation on the Exhibition "Resources of Power"

The talk refers to the ongoing experimental exhibition "Resources of Power: How Things Speak about Slavery and Dependency", currently on display at four locations within the university. The exhibition tells a long story of slavery and strong asymmetrical dependencies through objects and texts that relate to the materiality of different resource groups. The lecture will present the objects, elaborating on the ways in which these objects from 5000 years of human history and different cultures bear witness to extreme forms of dependency. The focus will be on three resource groups that are particularly closely linked to the history of dependence and slavery: Grains, luxury foods, and textiles.
