Modern Elite Slavery? Structures and Agents in Professional Football and Sports:
Historical Continuities and Discontinuities from Antiquity to the Present

The purpose of my research is to develop a working definition of elite slavery from antiquity to the present. In examining the pressures and limitations in the lifes of athletes, this sociological-historical research aims to create a fundamentally new understanding of asymmetrical dependencies and coerced labor in neoliberal capitalism.

An important part of my work is the focus on robbed and/or casted, disciplined, trained and highly educated bodies, which were accumulated as capital by third parties on a global scale throughout history and how these bodies were and still are hurt on a psychological and/or physical level .
