 entary from 1990 by Jennie Livingston (USA).\n\nDocumenting the queer “B
 allroom Culture” in New York City in the 1980s\, this groundbreaking mov
 ie depicts Latinx and Black queer and transgender communities.\n\nIt explo
 res their struggles with multiple forms of discrimination regarding their 
 race\, class\, gender\, sexual identity long before concepts such as gende
 r fluidity or intersectionality were discussed in society.\n \nStay on aft
 er the screening and join the conversion and get-together with free drinks
 /nibbles!\n \nBCDSS Professor Julia Hillner will give a short introduction
  on the BCDSS’ thematic year with a research focus on Gender (and Inters
 ectionality).\n\nFörderverein Filmkultur\, the Queer-Referat (AStA Uni Bo
 nn) and BCDSS Professor Pia Wiegmink will kickstart the post-screening con
 versation.
