DESCRIPTION:Humans have long relied on animals to survive and build societ
ies\, yet these entanglements—and their impact on human relationships—
are often understudied. With current debates around the Anthropocene and s
hifts in Humanities and Social Sciences\, it’s vital to include ecologic
al perspectives in studying colonization\, slavery\, and asymmetrical depe
ndencies.\nThe interdisciplinary workshop "Entangled Lives" will explore t
hese dynamics\, focusing on Indigenous experiences and diverse regions acr
oss the Americas.\n\nProf. Marcy Norton (University of Pennsylvania)\, aut
hor of "The Tame and the Wild\," will deliver the keynote as part of the J
oseph C. Miller Memorial Lecture Series.\n\nWe’ll discuss familiarizatio
n\, embodied knowledge\, dependency\, and human-animal bonds shaped by loc
al ecologies.\n\nOpen to the public. Register via email: entangledlives@de
