DEI Audit

Following in Uni Bonn’s footsteps, the BCDSS has begun the process of conducting its own internal DEI Audit that will assess the current status of diversity, equity and inclusion at the Cluster. Besides helping us to identify specific DEI challenges and strengths from our context, the audit will also act as a basis for the BCDSS DEI Strategy which will outline the DEI-related goals and structures that we aim to realise by the end of 2025.

The following assessment tools are part of the BCDSS’s DEI Audit and ongoing Monitoring & Evaluation systems. They collect and analyse both qualitative and quantitative data throughout the year and help to inform DEI-related decision-making and policies:

  • BCDSS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Survey: Conducted annually, this anonymous online survey collects both quantitative and qualitative data on attitudes and awareness towards DEI at the Cluster, feedback on DEI policies, procedures and services, and gives BCDSS members an opportunity to share their DEI-related needs.
  • Internal focus group discussions with various interest groups at the Cluster to identify their DEI needs and perspectives.
  • Feedback Questionnaires from DEI workshops and events.
  • Collected individual complaints and suggestions by BCDSS members submitted anonymously in the ‘Complaints Boxes’ or to the BCDSS Antidiscrimination team, Equal Opportunity Representative, or DEI Coordinator. 
  • Annual BCDSS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Report: Prepared by the DEI Coordinator and submitted to the BCDSS Steering Committee each year, this report presents an analysis of collected DEI data throughout the year. It summarizes progress towards DEI-related goals at the Cluster, evaluates implemented trainings and activities for that year, tracks DEI awareness and the utilization of services by BCDSS members.
