Description and Content:

Academic institutions increasingly bring together individuals from diverse social, national, disciplinary, and generational backgrounds who collaborate across different roles and status levels. In such complex environments, inclusive leadership plays a crucial role in fostering respectful collaboration, balancing diverse resources and perspectives, and creating conditions in which all members can contribute effectively. This six-hour workshop explores key concepts and practices of inclusive leadership in academic contexts. Participants will examine how unconscious biases may influence perceptions, interactions, and decision-making processes, and how these biases can unintentionally undermine inclusive collaboration. Particular attention is given to the development of transcultural skills and cultural sensitivity, as well as to the role of trust, clear boundaries, and constructive conflict management in diverse teams. The workshop combines theoretical input with interactive exercises that allow participants to reflect on their own leadership practices and to practice effective and inclusive communication strategies. By encouraging perspective-taking and the recognition of individual uniqueness, the workshop highlights how diversity of experiences and viewpoints can contribute to more balanced decision-making, innovative thinking, and productive collaboration within academic teams.
