A Workshop offered by Diversity, Equity and Inclusion under Theme A ‘Developing Safe & Inclusive Spaces’

Focusing on teaching and classroom settings, the workshop focuses on how unconscious prejudices can emerge, in addition to automatic processes in perception. Topics to be covered:

  • Sensitisation to discriminatory structures; forms of discrimination; intersectionality; self-perception and perception by others; reflection on own thought patterns
  • Influences of unconscious bias on individuals and groups/organisations; understanding the effect of bias on teaching staff decisions and actions
  • Raising awareness of the diversity of colleagues, employees and students
  • Transfer support: dealing with unconscious bias in one's own field of work; reflection on one's own role; alternative options for action.
