Join us for the upcoming exhibition opening of "Tobacco Echoes" at the Global Heritage Lab. It brings together works by artists Ngozi Ajah Schommers and Etinosa Yvonne, exploring tobacco, labour, care, memory, and colonial trade in Nigeria. Focusing on Oyo State, the exhibition traces relationships between people and plant across generations. The third chapter of Plant Knowledge, it examines tobacco’s entangled histories of trade, labour, healing, pleasure, and illness. Artist talks, workshops, and panel discussions invite exchange between art, academia, and society.

Black faces in white? space explores the dynamics and complexity of being Black in a country that regards itself as homogeneously white. In doing so, the filmmaker seeks to offer new perspectives on Blackness. Through striking imagery, director ...thabo thindi portrays the experiences of Black people in institutional settings and takes a critical look at white power structures and colonial legacies.
