The history of the pre-Hispanic territory that became the Royal Audience of Charcas, and later the heart of modern Bolivia, is marked by diverse forms of free and unfree servitude, including slavery and various coercive labor relationships. To explore how these dependencies transformed over time and their effects on today's societies, the IEB and BCDSS are organizing a four-day intensive program in La Paz.
- The BCDSS will cover four nights of accommodation in La Paz for the 12 selected students. The IEB will provide work materials and refreshments during the event. Travel costs must be covered by the participants or their home institutions.
- Proposals must be submitted in Spanish and include a title, a 500-word summary, institutional affiliation, and a brief biographical note.
- Deadline for proposals: Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Bolivia time.
- Submission email: ieb.fhce@umsa.bo.
- Notification of selection: May 11, 2026.
- Full text submission: Selected participants must submit full research texts by mid-June 2026.
