Dima is a social researcher and management professional with over 10 years of experience in the non-profit sector. In 2017, she moved to Germany to pursue a doctoral degree in development studies at the University of Bonn. Her doctoral research focuses on the impact of conflict, displacement, and host-country contexts on Syrian women’s participation in civic organizations in Turkey and Lebanon.

In her analysis, Dima employs intersectional frameworks to explore how key social markers—such as gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic class, and urban or rural origins—exacerbate gender inequalities and hinder the inclusion and full participation of these women in civic organizations. She has shared her findings through academic publications, conferences, and participation in various sociology seminars at the University of Bonn. Additionally, she is a member of the ZEF Gender group and the Association for Middle East Women Studies (AMEWS).
