Thabo Thindi's approach to art goes beyond the medium of film: He combines film with photography and poetry, and - through street interventions - invites the public to be part of the creative process of exploring the everyday reality of Black people in Germany.
Some of his exhibition posters and materials will be on display at our screening event, alongside three photographs that Thabo Thindi co-selected as winning entries of the "Dekoloniale Perspektiven" competition, run by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Entwicklungsdienste (AGdD).
For a glimpse of Thabo Thindi's photographic work, explore his 2023 portraits of Black residents in Munich, created through conversations and encounters that bring their shared resilience, experiences of migration, and ongoing struggles for liberation into focus. The portraits are available online at the Münchner Stadtmuseum.
POST-SCREENING REFRESHMENTS AND TALK WITH DIRECTOR THABO THINDI
Everyone is cordially invited to join us for snacks and drinks after the screening, followed by an informal discussion with film director Thabo Thindi at 21:00 in Studio 5 (on the ground floor). He will be happy to answer any questions about the film and share experiences and perspectives on being Black in Germany.
The discussion will be moderated by Gabi Waibel from the Association of German Development Services (AGdD) and Luvena Kopp from the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies (BCDSS).
