Enslaved Muslims and Muslim Enslavers: Islam, Politics and Slavery

Scholars are invited to submit proposals for a two-day conference 6–7 July 2027 at Brock University, Canada, in collaboration with the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies.

A two-day conference will be held 6–7 July 2027 at Brock University in collaboration with the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies (University of Bonn, Germany). Organized by Stephan Conermann and Behnaz Mirzai, the event will explore the role of political Islam in slavery from the medieval period to modern times, including the enslavement of Muslims in the Americas.

Selected papers will be published in a special issue or edited volume.
