A new special issue of the journal Gender & History focusing on Gender & Segregation has been published by Wiley.

The issue is co-edited by Lisa Hellman and Julia Hillner, together with Daniel J. R. Grey and Rachel Jean-Baptiste, and brings together international scholarship on the historical intersections of gender, spatial separation, and power.

The publication grew out of a conference held at the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies (BCDSS) in April 2024, where contributors discussed new perspectives on gendered forms of segregation across different historical and geographical contexts. The issue also includes a contribution by Emma Kalb.
