Wissenschaftsrallye, 25 April 2026: Sorry, not sorry!? On 25 April, BCDSS takes part in the Wissenschaftsrallye at the University of Bonn

Justice, Apology, and Repair in Everyday Situations and in the Context of German Colonialism

For the fifth consecutive year, we will take part in the Wissenschaftsrallye, one of the University of Bonn’s main school outreach events, on Saturday, 25 April. Running from 10:00 to 15:00, the event brings together departments and research units from across the university to engage secondary school students in an interactive format. At the BCDSS station, participants will explore questions of justice and reparation.

Located in the university’s main hall (Aula), the BCDSS station centres on a guiding question: What does it mean to make something right? Participants will explore scenarios of everyday injustice before engaging with the history of German colonialism in Namibia, including the dispossession of Herero and Nama communities and ongoing debates around apology and reparation. They will encounter perspectives from Herero and Nama communities, German politicians, activists, and descendants, and be invited to reflect and share their own views.

The station is designed and run by the BCDSS PR team in cooperation with PhD researcher Viviann Wilmot

Please spread the word! We look forward to welcoming curious young minds on the day!
